CMINDS® Reporting & Data Extraction Utilities
The CMINDS® Report Generation Module (RGM)
was developed to provide optimized, flexible data reporting and eliminate case
report form (CRF) generation for clinical trials. Two distinct formats are
supported: an "Individual Report" that presents all of the data for a given
assessment and a condensed "Summary Report" consisting of categorical subtotals
and commonly accepted summary scores for each assessment in a given battery.
Reports can be viewed on the screen, printed as a hard copy paper report, or
converted to a file in PDF format. The PDF output option facilitates electronic
transfer for a variety of reporting and documentation purposes. An important
advantage of PDF documents is that they cannot be altered, ensuring authenticity
for controlled trials.
CMINDS® reports are programmatically
generated by an embedded Crystal Reports™ run-time engine. A user with Study
Administrator Privileges can configure automatic hard copy reports to be
generated at the completion of each evaluation session. The CMINDS®
RGM is the first to incorporate screen captures of test forms for which subjects
entered graphical input (e.g. Trails A&B, Mazes). This enables the examiner and
clinical trial study monitors to review actual performance.
Detailed interpretive reports are also an essential element of neurocognitive
assessment, regardless of whether the data is derived from a clinical trial
encompassing hundreds of subjects or from a single clinical case. In both
situations, NeuroComp consulting services will be available to provide any
needed clarification in the clinical interpretation of the results of any
assessment data collected. CMINDS® provides comprehensive reporting
services that enable the customization of a range of resulting clinical reports.
Whether these reports will be retained on-site as “source documents” on a
clinical trial or used in clinical neuropsychological evaluation of private
patients, NeuroComp will assist the sponsor or client to configure these
reporting options to provide the most relevant information for interpreting the
assessment results.
Besides generation of comprehensive reports, CMINDS provides a flexible Data
Extraction Utility to aid data export for further analysis. The utility is
necessary to retrieve data because the SQL RDBMS (Relational Database Management
System) is encrypted and the relational nature of the data structure is not
directly accessible to end users.
A user-friendly interface allows selection of subjects, assessments, and the
variables within each assessment through selection of checkboxes. Critical
variables, such as summary values, are pre-selected by default for each test to
minimize the effort required. This feature allows the user to effortlessly
accept the default settings by clicking the next button for each screen, which
then exports the critical variables for every subject, session, and assessment
within a study. The data is exported to a tab-delimited text file that can be
opened with Microsoft Excel, SPSS, or any other spreadsheet or database import
utility. The column headings use abbreviated variable names indicating the test
and variable using minimal characters. In addition to the data file itself, the
utility creates a Data Dictionary file that defines each abbreviated variable
and lists its complete name. To maintain the security of subject data, only
staff members with appropriate privileges can access the Data Extraction
Utility.
